What's the lesson structure like? Lessons are conducted weekly on the same day of every month. There will be four lessons per month and no lessons on the fifth week (Reserved for make up lessons). Lesson as usual on most public holidays. What is the duration of each lesson? The duration of the standard lessons varies with the student’s attention span (30 to 45 minutes). For special courses, the duration would be longer. How much do I charge? Lessons are charged on a monthly basis for four lessons. The lesson fee varies for individuals as every student has different music background and requirements for the lessons. It also varies on the location. Must I buy a violin for my lessons? It is highly recommended for students to own a violin suitable for his/her build so that he/she can practice more often. Violin comes in different grades and sizes. You should be able to get a student violin at less than $200. If you feel that it is too expensive, feel free to contact me for alternatives. What else do I need? Although shoulder rests are actually optional, beginners are strongly recommended to get a shoulder rest (matching size for the violin) to correct his/her posture. Other than that, I would recommend my student to have a progress book. This is to allow the student to check what to practice and the overall progress of his/her course. Students are also expected to purchase necessary books for his/her syllabus. Leisure students are required to have a clear folder. Students can also get the music stand and violin tuner if they feel that it is necessary. Any enquires on Lessons or Events? Feel free to reach me at violin@xmail.net

Born in Singapore, Vivian is an ordinary girl who goes to school and ensures that academic is her priority. When she was in Primary 2, there was a violinist whom held a class enrollment activity in her school. For some reasons, the Primary 2 girl managed to remember the exact date and time - she asked her parents to bring her there.
Her parents brought her there and there was a briefing. As her parents knew nothing about music, they allowed her to make the decisions if she wants to pick up the skill. She felt that it was an interesting instrument and decided to attend violin lessons every Sunday.
This was how Vivian started learning violin at the age of eight. It was since then that she managed to make use some of her spare time to cultivate her love for violin. Her abecedarian teacher was (the then) SSO Violist Mr Chen Ge.
She did not give up violin when she was promoted to secondary school. During her teens, she was influenced to music from many genres. It was then that she realized Classical music wasn’t her only love. She tried whatever songs she liked on her violin and analyzed the special techniques needed.
Her interest with violin did not descend after she graduated from secondary school. She joined the String Ensemble club (SPSE) while she was in Singapore Polytechnic. Under the supervision of the conductor - Mr Yang Shili, she enjoyed her performance at every event. She was the 1st violinist of the club and the concert committee chairperson (Classical Renaissance VI) in 2004.
She was offered a place in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for a Degree in Computer Engineering. Since she believed that good things are meant to be shared, it is why she started teaching violin during her free time to pass her skills to her students.
In her final year of her Degree in Computer Engineering, she fused music with computing and wrote a program for music composition and music evolution. She was glad that her music knowledge came into good use and is surprised with the results of music (evolutionary) computing. As it wasn’t something very well known to the public, she hopes to educate the public on the existence of such computing technology.
